One lesson that was learned this morning: If life knocks you down, you come back stronger in spite of the challenges.
Jeff F: I grew up playing hockey against a kid named Travis Roy, a phenomenal player who earned a full scholarship to Boston University and who was already on the radar of many pro scouts. 11 seconds into his first shift in college and he crashed into the boards attempting to hit an opposing player and was paralyzed from the neck down. He spent the next few years working on his rehab, graduating from college on time, and starting the Travis Roy Foundation which supports people with disabilities through research, funding and home improvements. He truly exemplifies exuding optimism by taking a situation in which he could have given up but he made the most of it, became a motivational speaker and has now raised over $4 million dollars through his foundation.
