Gamal: On Tuesday morning I decided to show a video of a non-profit organization I am involved with to exemplify the core value of "Taking Time To Help Others." Help Us Save Us has been incorporated since March 2010 after a major 7.0 earthquake hit the capital Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The Haitian government reported that an estimated 316,000 people had died, 300,000 had been injured and 1,000,000 left homeless.
The Help Us Save Us vision is to is to build a children center, serving all humanity by providing assistance in education, health, and athletics. We know by providing this type of assistance, everyone in Help Us Save Us will be able to reach their highest potential. Help Us Save Us believes we should “teach our people how to fish instead of fishing for them”.
HUSU is highly motivating because we constantly push our kids to get excellent grades in school and to explore careers and life experiences that will support them as adults and the overall community. We provide a life changing experience for all of our volunteers by giving them tools to become mentors, opportunities to change their own community, and insight into how to manage projects while becoming leaders. HUSU supports excellence in athletics by recruiting coaches who understand the academic and social benefits of athletics in the lives of children.
