  • Can you briefly overview your Give Back Day experience with the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas?

The Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas (GSNETX) has been a beacon of empowerment for over a century, tirelessly working to "build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place." Their impact is truly remarkable with an expansive reach covering 32 counties and an astonishing 23,000 square miles in Northeast Texas. As a proud member of the Board of Directors for GSNETX, a position I hold through GSNETX’s partnership with the Junior League of Dallas, I am honored to contribute to this incredible organization. The GSNETX board is a destination for the best and brightest minds in Northeast Texas, boasting an impressive roster of executives from industry giants such as AT&T, Texas Instruments, and 7-Eleven. Once a year, we convene for a full day of reflection and strategic planning, a testament to our unwavering commitment to the girls we serve. This year, the focus was on organizational restructuring, property management, board development, and the upcoming launch of the Capital Campaign.

  • What was the most memorable moment for you during this Give Back Day?

During my Give Back Day with GSNETX, the most memorable moment was undoubtedly being a part of the strategic discussion on engaging underrepresented and underserved communities in Northeast Texas. It was an enlightening experience to delve into the complexities of reaching out to these young girls and mapping out innovative ways for GSNETX to be an integral part of their community. The concept of being "in community" with these girls, meeting them where they are, and understanding their unique challenges and aspirations was truly inspiring. The passion and dedication exhibited by the board members during this discussion left an indelible mark on me, reinforcing the significance of our mission.

  • How has participating in Give Back Day impacted your perspective on community service and giving back?

Participating in Give Back Day and serving alongside the exceptional GSNETX Board of Directors has profoundly impacted my perspective on my community and giving back. Learning about the struggles faced by young girls in our region, particularly concerning their mental health and well-being, was an eye-opening experience that shed light on the critical need for support and empowerment. However, amidst these challenges, I found myself inspired by the incredible plans and conversations aimed at nurturing the future female leaders of our community. Being a part of these discussions and witnessing the unwavering commitment of the board members to create positive change filled me with a renewed sense of purpose and perspective. It reinforced the notion that by investing our time, resources, and expertise, we have the power to change the future for the girls in our community. This Give Back Day experience has strengthened my resolve to continue serving and making a meaningful difference in the lives of these young girls, ensuring they have the tools and support they need to thrive and become the leaders of tomorrow.
