The month of May is renownedly known as Mental Health Awareness month - a time to prioritize our mental well-being. The topic of breaking the stigma surrounding mental health resonates deeply with all of us at Lawline. During a recent group conversation, Gabby DiSilvio, Lawline’s Lead Program attorney and a leader of our Minority Employee Resource Group (MERG), created a safe space for employees to share their experiences.
As a remote company that values open conversations, conducting a supportive and empowering discussion about mental well-being in our fast-paced world was crucial to acknowledge the impact mental health has on our lives. It was important to know that we were not alone in this journey.
By sharing our own stories and struggles during the conversation, we paved the way for others to do the same.. During the event, we actively supported one another in our mental health journeys. A huge takeaway from the event was to take some time to check in on your friends, lend a listening ear, and offer a helping hand when someone is going through a tough time.
The journey of improving your mental health is also about knowing when to PLAY. Laughter, hobbies, and shared experiences can help alleviate stress and boost our spirits. During the event, we discovered new ways of self-care that created a positive rippling effect that allowed others to share.. Whether it's practicing mindfulness, going to therapy through Lawline’s company benefits, engaging in hobbies, journaling in The Journal That Talks Back, or simply disconnecting from screens, self-care is an essential part of maintaining good health.
Lawline provides each employee with 3 Mental health days per year and monthly subscriptions to online coaching and journaling that allows us to take a break to recharge which is not only encouraged but celebrated. By taking care of ourselves, we become our best selves.
