Employee Spotlight: Elizabeth

Meet Elizabeth "Beth" Pauley

After graduating from law school, Beth embarked on a journey of clerking for an appellate judge. That role fostered a lasting bond with Judge Carroll, with whom she still shares texts about TV shows and their mutual love for running.

Beth then transitioned to McCarter & English, a prominent NJ law firm, dedicating five years mainly to product liability cases linked to pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Beyond her primary role, Beth was drawn to pro bono work, notably contributing to Kids In Need of Defense (KIND) and other organizations. Later, she ventured into Casetext which was another exciting chapter for her before taking a brief hiatus to care for her preemie twins. Now, as Lawline's Program Attorney since January, Beth is crafting CLE courses in collaboration with top-tier attorneys and legal organizations.

What do you enjoy most about your role here?

I really enjoy working with attorneys on interesting legal topics and helping lawyers further their legal education. When I used to practice law, learning new areas of law was my favorite part, and I love helping other lawyers do the same - and I'm glad to do it without billable hour requirements now!

Can you share a memorable project or achievement you're proud of?

I've been working on some courses for newly admitted attorneys, which I'm proud of because some of the requirements for different states can be quite specific. Finding great presenters for these important courses has been very fulfilling.

How do you balance work with your personal life or hobbies? 

I love to run and have run lots of marathons since starting long distance running in law school as a stress reliever. I usually run in the morning to help me tackle my day. I also enjoy spending time with my almost-2-year-old twins, husband, and goldendoodle! 

What's a professional goal you're currently aiming for?

I'm excited to be a part of 2024 planning for Lawline's content goals. Since I started in January, this will be my first time being a part of the conversation!
