Employee Spotlight: July 2022

Miylie Roan | July 21, 2022

Lawline has recently hired 2 new employees, Tiffany and Frank, and 1 summer intern, Skylar, who all bring so much value to the Lawline team. Check out below what they had to say about their time at Lawline so far.

Tiffany Cruz - Business Development Representative

Tiffany Cruz is the newest member of the sales department. She currently lives in Florida, because she thought she was going to get a chance to be an empty nester after spending the last 10 years raising her four daughters in the north Atlanta suburbs. Unfortunately, all of them followed her and her husband to the Tampa area along with their two granddaughters as well. So they have a house full of noise including their 3 dogs! Outside of work she enjoys reading suspense and crime novels, watching anything on the ID channel, and watching most sports. Her favorite sport is college football, and her favorite team to watch is  The University of Michigan. This year her plan is to spend the month of September in Ann Arbor to watch all of their home games for the month and to hopefully take her granddaughters to see the Big House. Tiffany is excited for this opportunity and looks forward to being a part of an amazing team!

  1. How was the interview process for you?

The interview process was just as explained by the recruiter. I had 2 additional interviews after my initial zoom screen in a timely manner.

  1. Joining a fully remote company, what did you imagine Lawline would be like?

I have been working remotely since the pandemic began. Lawline has continued to make working remotely inclusive by making sure I feel like I am a part of the team.

  1. What was your first week like at Lawline?

The first week was a mix of training, meeting colleagues one on one from different departments, and group meetings.

  1. What would you say is your biggest GROW moment so far?

My biggest GROW moment so far is learning all of the different systems that we use. Hubspot, Slack, Trello boards, and Avoma. All of these are new to me, so I am getting acclimated to the processes.

  1. Is there anything else that you would like to share?

I am very happy with my decision to accept this new opportunity and I am looking forward to being able to grow with the company and learn.

Frank Rodriguez - Web Developer

Frank was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Always passionate about technology, he interned at the Codeup web development bootcamp during his senior year of high school and became a student of the bootcamp right after graduating. Since then he’s enjoyed working across all areas of the web stack and had a stint as a pinball game developer. In his free time, Frank enjoys gaming, watching movies, trying out new restaurants, and playing with his dogs.

1. How was the interview process for you?

I had a positive interview experience. I had three rounds of interviews and a code test. The conversations were friendly and I got quick feedback at every step which was encouraging.

2. Joining a fully remote company, what did you imagine Lawline would be like?

I had worked fully remote at the start of the pandemic and my experience then was daily standup meetings and a feeling of isolation from everything outside of my department. Instead, Lawline’s meetings are much less frequent and there’s an overall greater sense of camaraderie.

 3. What was your first week like at Lawline?

My first week was filled with meeting new people and learning how all the different departments work together.

4. What would you say is your biggest GROW moment so far?

My biggest GROW moment so far was getting my first software change deployed to production.

5. Is there anything else that you would like to share?

I really enjoy the positive culture here and how supportive and welcoming everyone has been.

Skylar Musick - Summer Intern (Marketing & Storytelling)

Skylar is a junior Communication and English double major at Villanova University. She is an aspiring journalist and is passionate about media and media production. Her hobbies include dance, music, art, and writing. In her free time, she loves to be outdoors and spend time with her friends and family.

  1. How was the interview process for you?

The interview process was very laid-back and enjoyable. A huge thank you to Jocelyn Strauber for helping me find a place on the team this summer and for the endless support!

  1. Joining a fully remote company, what did you imagine Lawline would be like?

Before starting with Lawline, part of me was relieved to be able to work from home, but part of me was also nervous about feeling isolated. However, I realized I had nothing to worry about on my first day with the company. Even though we work remotely, the team has a great camaraderie that I am grateful to be a part of.

  1. What was your first week like at Lawline?

Even in just my first week at Lawline, I learned so much and received so much support from the team. My projects were creative and fun, and someone was always there to help. After my first week, I felt so welcomed by everyone at the company, which gave me the confidence I needed.

  1. What would you say is your biggest GROW moment so far?

My biggest GROW moment was learning about and creating social media content for our Lawyers Who Lead podcast. Our Chief Storyteller and host, Sigalle Barness, has been an amazing mentor and I am so thankful for the opportunity to work and create with her every day!

  1. Is there anything else that you would like to share?

My internship at Lawline has been a wonderful experience so far! I am inspired by the hard work and dedication of all our members. I am very excited to see what we’ll accomplish together during the remainder of the summer.
