Celebrating Women at Lawline: Coffee Chat & HerStory Share

At Lawline, women make up 67% of our team, and we are proud to celebrate their contributions every day. In honor of Women’s History Month, our Minority Employee Resource Group (MERG) hosted a special Coffee Chat session filled with moments of vulnerability, empowerment, and inspiration. The purpose of the Coffee Chat was simple: to provide a space for us to connect, reflect, and celebrate the strength of women in our lives.

One of the key elements of the session was "HerStory," where we shared stories, poems, or spoken word pieces inspired by women who influenced us. From the strength and wisdom of mothers, grandmothers, and colleagues, the session allowed for moments of tears and laughter as we recognized how similar our experiences are.

The open discussion portion allowed us to talk about how we can step into our power, own our worth, and lean on each other for support. Here are just a few of the powerful insights shared:

1. Finding strength: We shared how we’ve drawn inspiration from the women around us. Watching another woman push herself to the next level or tackle difficult tasks often reminds us that we can do hard things too and shouldn’t make ourselves smaller. Additionally, asking ourselves, 'What would a man do?' when approaching challenges helps combat stereotypes.
   
   
2. Creating safe spaces: Whether in professional settings or casual conversations, it’s essential to make other women feel safe and supported.
   
   
3. Embracing vulnerability: One of the most profound takeaways from the session was the collective realization that it’s okay to be vulnerable. Being open about our challenges, insecurities, and fears is a strength, not a weakness.
   
   
4. Leaning on allies: We were grateful for the presence of allies in the session, who joined the conversation to listen, learn, and offer support. Their willingness to understand women’s perspectives was an important part of the dialogue.
