Bozeman “Think Big” Montana: Our 2025 Annual Company Retreat
After months of planning and building excitement, our fully remote team packed their bags and met up in one of the most stunning places in the country, Bozeman, Montana, for our annual company retreat! While we thrive as a remote company year round, there’s something truly powerful about gathering face-to-face because of the connection, laughter, and creativity that reminds us how special it is to be part of this team.
This retreat came with a few exciting firsts:
- First time all of us traveled to Bozeman, Montana
- First time 25 employees flew across the country with connecting flights
- First time we extended the retreat by an extra day
- First time we all rode together on a shuttle bus to explore beautiful locations
- First time our Shark Tank pitches were pre-planned months in advance
- And yes, the first time we saw Mike Shafland and Oi Wo Mark in cowboy hats!
From bowling and bonding at Ponderosa Social to Shark Tank-style pitches at the beautiful Sage Lodge, we had plenty of moments to learn from one another, laugh a lot, and be reminded of the brilliance across every team. There was axe throwing, lasso roping, and a hike through Yellowstone that looked straight out of a nature documentary.
As part of our strategy planning sessions, we took a bold step toward shaping Lawline’s future by asking a powerful question: How do we double our reach and impact over the next three years? To explore this, we engaged in a two-day “beachball” exercise led by our Chief People Officer, Michele Richman. We intentionally chose to go deep on one strategic focus area because we believe that depth drives clarity. By dedicating our collective time and energy to a single challenge, we created space to think big, align as a team, and shape shared vision. This initiative falls under our strategic pillar to Grow Through CLE-as-a-Service, with the objective of defining how CLE Studio can evolve to deliver value to both Lawline and the professionals we serve.
Maybe the most memorable part is that things didn’t go exactly as planned. We had to pivot the agenda in real-time. Instead of stress or frustration, what came through was flexibility, patience, and a shared determination to make it all work—and that’s really who we are. It was a living, breathing example of our core values: ACT, CARE, EXPERIMENT, and CREATE. We saw them in action in every spontaneous shuffle, quick group huddle, and encouraging words to one another.
When you work remotely, you can go months without being in the same room with your colleagues but when we do get together, it doesn’t feel like we’re starting from scratch. It feels like catching up with friends you’ve known for years. The conversations get deeper, the ideas get bigger, and the trust we’ve built virtually gets even stronger in person. Until next time, Bozeman!
