Alyssa’s Promotion Spotlight: Senior Manager, Business & People Operations
We’re excited to celebrate Alyssa’s recent promotion to Senior Manager, Business & People Operations! In this Q&A, Alyssa shares her career journey, the experiences that shaped her path, and what she’s most excited to focus on in her new role. From her early days in media and publishing to her impact here at Lawline, Alyssa reflects on how each step prepared her for this next chapter and how she hopes to continue supporting our team and our people-first culture.
Can you share your career path leading up to your recent promotion?
My career path has zig-zagged a bit, but every step taught me something that led me here. I started at CNBC in production, then spent years in publishing at Macmillan, where I moved from sales ops to training to eventually supporting the executive team. That role gave me a front-row seat to how a business runs, everything from events to business acquisitions.
After moving to Arizona during COVID, I joined Lawline as EA to the COO, and before long, I shifted into Business Operations. For the past five years, I’ve been diving deeper into finance, operations, and all the behind-the-scenes work that keeps things running smoothly.
How do you envision your new role impacting both our team and Lawline’s future? Are there specific goals or initiatives you're excited to pursue?
I’m really looking forward to this next chapter. The best part for me is working even more closely with Miylie and Amanda and finding ways to make our processes easier and more effective. I love solving problems and making things run better, whether that’s doing audits, streamlining workflows, or finding cost savings. But what I’m most excited about is supporting the team’s growth. I want to make sure everyone feels supported and has the tools they need to succeed.Since this role spans both HR and business ops, I get to help make sure our policies and systems actually work for people, not just on paper, which feels like a great way to support Lawline’s people-first culture while still hitting our goals.
Looking ahead, what are your long-term career goals, and how does this promotion align?
This role is exactly the kind of work I enjoy most: a mix of strategy and hands-on execution. I like being able to jump from budgets to process fixes to team coaching and this promotion lets me do all of that.
Looking ahead, I want to keep building my skills in strategic operations, but no matter where I grow, I’ll always want to stay close to developing people and creating systems that make work easier. That’s what energizes me, and I’m excited to keep building on that in this new role.
