At our latest Minority Employee Resource Group session, we explored what belonging truly means and how it differs from simply fitting in.
During the event, employees reflected on moments when they felt included, shared personal stories of belonging, and discussed how we can continue creating more “belonging moments” at Lawline.
Although this was a safe space for employees to be vulnerable, many expressed gratitude for the intention behind events like this, where they can feel seen, connected, and valued. Belonging often shows up in the little moments, such as sitting with friends and family in comfortable silence without needing to overexplain, connecting with colleagues in person at retreats, or sharing a GIF on socials because you remembered something meaningful about someone to make them feel seen.
☕️ Like coffee, we all come in different flavors and shades, from light roast to dark roast, each with our own unique sweetness and richness. And just like coffee, every person is appreciated for who they are. You don’t need to dilute your flavor to fit in or change your order to match someone else’s. Celebrate who you are!
Thank you to everyone who joined our MERG event and shared your stories. For those who couldn’t attend, we hope this gives you a glimpse into how we’re continuing to build a workplace where everyone can show up as their full selves. View the full presentation here.
